In partnership with The College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA), the MARINER LIFE program provides a unique opportunity for students ages 18-21 who want on-the-job training experience while being immersed into a college life experience.  

Students participating in the Mariner Life program become part of the student body by receiving college identification allowing them access to all sporting events and student activities on the CCGA campus.  

Students with four years of high school participation and three years of job readiness training in the ACCESS program for students with primarily moderate intellectual disabilities located at our high schools are nominated by their teachers for MARINER LIFE based on excellent classroom performance and participation in community based instruction and pre-vocational training at various work sites.  Before final selections are made, students are interviewed for the program and receive a skills assessment.  

On-the-job training is continuously expanding and matched with a student's vocational interests.  Areas of employment for our students currently include: dining/food preparation, landscaping, health & fitness, and custodial work.  Several of our students have graduated and become employees of CCGA for a truly meaningful transition into adulthood.

Instruction is individualized to meet student needs.  Some students may have the opportunity to participate in college classes.  Classroom space is provided for all students to continue advancing in their independent living skills to include activities in the areas of daily living, communication and socialization.
