Calendar & School Hours
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 6. GCSS will operate on a 178-day instructional calendar for 2025-2026 school year – 89 days for the first and second semesters. This adjustment from a 180-day calendar allows for more teacher workdays, professional development, and short breaks in October, November, February, and March. The complete calendar is available in both graphic and text formats below.
Dates designated for these purposes include October 13, 2025; November 10-11, 2025; February 16, 2026; and March 16, 2026. Full-week breaks in November (Thanksgiving holiday) and April (Spring Break) will remain. Our normal Christmas break schedule will also continue unchanged – December 22, 2025, through January 6, 2026.
School will conclude on May 21, 2026, for the 2025-2026 school year.

For the 2025-26 school year, the following start and end times will be in effect*:
- Elementary Schools - 7:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Altama Elementary, Burroughs-Molette Elementary, Glyndale Elementary, Golden Isles Elementary, Goodyear Elementary, Greer Elementary, Oglethorpe Point Elementary, St. Simons Elementary, Satilla Marsh Elementary, Sterling Elementary. - Middle Schools - 8:25 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Glynn Middle, Jane Macon Middle, Needwood Middle, Risley Middle. - High Schools - 8:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
Brunswick High School, Glynn Academy. (Golden Isles Career Academy hours vary; call the school for details.) - FACES - Sign in as early 7:30 a.m.; students must arrive by 8:00 a.m. or they will be marked tardy. Students may be picked up as early as 2 p.m. and must be picked up by 2:30 p.m.
