Board Briefs - March 25, 2026

The Glynn County Board of Education held a special called meeting on Wednesday, March 25, at 9:30 AM to address critical funding for staff members and finalize capital project requirements.
Employee One-Time Supplement
The Board took a significant step in supporting district staff by approving a $2,000 one-time supplement for all employees.
While Governor Brian Kemp’s Amended Fiscal Year 2026 budget provided a $2,000 supplement for state-funded teachers and specific support staff, many local positions were not included in the original state allotment. To ensure every member of the team is recognized for their contribution to student success, the Board approved $1,702,000.00 in additional local funding to cover all remaining positions.
Facilities & Capital Outlay
The Board approved several items related to the completion and refinement of district construction projects funded through the state’s capital outlay program:
- Oglethorpe Elementary Project Revision: Approved a resolution to revise the Fiscal Year 2022 application for capital outlay funding, officially removing the Phase 3 Kitchen Hood from the project scope.
- Project Completion Certificates: Formally approved the Certificates of the Board of Education for several schools, marking the official completion of FY2022 capital outlay projects at:
- Glynn Academy
- Satilla Marsh Elementary
- Needwood Middle School
- Golden Isles Elementary
- Oglethorpe Point Elementary
Technology Updates
To ensure students and staff have access to reliable and modern hardware, the Board approved the Middle School Computer Refresh. This initiative will replace aging units to maintain high standards for digital learning across all district middle schools.
