Glynn County Schools and City of Brunswick Finalize Land Exchange to Expand Career Education

Glynn County Schools and the City of Brunswick have finalized a strategic real estate agreement designed to expand workforce development opportunities for students while positioning key city properties for long-term revitalization and investment.
Through a mutually beneficial land swap, Glynn County Schools has acquired 18 acres adjacent to the Golden Isles College & Career Academy (GICCA). The acquisition ensures that the district has the potential space needed for future endeavors of specialized programs, allowing for thoughtful planning of industry-leading career training and workforce development initiatives.
In exchange, the City of Brunswick has assumed ownership of three significant properties totaling more than 30 acres—including the Lanier Field, Edo Miller Ballpark, and a parcel on Habersham Street. The consolidation of these assets under City ownership represents a strategic effort by City leadership to solidify reinvestment in vital areas and unlock the potential of underutilized spaces.
“The City of Brunswick is committed to building a future that honors our past while fostering new opportunities. Through this collaborative agreement with the Glynn County School Board, we are taking direct action to invigorate our major corridors, transform our city’s assets into a catalyst for new investment, while also reimagining vital community anchors for generations to come. This is what smart, forward-thinking partnership looks like.” Said Mayor Cosby Johnson
Both organizations view the agreement as a model of intergovernmental cooperation and one that advances educational excellence and lays the groundwork for thoughtful, sustainable growth in the heart of Brunswick
