Glynn County Schools Breaks Ground on New Elementary Replacement School

This morning, Glynn County Schools officially broke ground on the replacement facility for Glyndale Elementary School, marking a major step forward for both the district and the surrounding community. This new facility is being constructed to provide a more modern, traditional classroom environment for students and staff, moving away from the "pod" style layouts of the past to better support current instructional needs.
Beyond the physical upgrades, the new school is a strategic response to the significant residential development in the area. It will serve as the anchor for a future district-wide rezoning project, allowing the school system to proactively manage growth and balance student populations across the county.
The project has officially moved into Phase 3 of construction with all site roads cleared. At this time, construction remains on schedule for the school to be completed and ready for the 2027-2028 school year. While this facility replaces the current Glyndale Elementary, an official name for the new school has not yet been decided.
The community is encouraged to stay engaged as this project progresses. Monthly updates on the building and future rezoning plans are shared during Board of Education meetings. These meetings can be attended in person at the Board of Education office building (the former Altama Elementary School) or watched live online via the district’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The monthly meeting schedule and "Board Briefs"—which provide a summary the day after each meeting—can be found on the Glynn County Schools website.
