The Glynn County Board of Education held its monthly work session on Thursday, September 4, followed by its regular board meeting on Tuesday, September 9. Highlights from both meetings are summarized below:

Financials: Reviewed the July 2025 financial report.

ESPLOST Projects:

Received an update on the College of Coastal Georgia Performing Arts Center project, including photos of recent progress.

Glyndale Elementary replacement project is moving along well.

Local Capital Projects:

Brunswick High School field house is coming along nicely. Brickwork is 95% finished, and work is beginning on the concrete roof membrane.

Board of Education Wing 3 renovations are complete, and staff have moved in. Demolition of Wing 4 will begin soon.

Reports: Reviewed the Gude Report.

Architecture Recommendation: James W. Buckley & Associates was recommended as the architectural firm for upcoming projects, pending board approval.

Reviewed Title IV-B 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant renewal. This is Year 2 of funding, with $350,000 designated for each level: K–2, Grades 3–5, and Grade 6.

Reviewed CTAE federal grant applications.

Student Achievement: Received an update on Georgia Milestones results.

Facilities & Safety: Sought approval to purchase three new police vehicles to replace older fleet vehicles.

Spotlight Recognitions: Honored 2025–26 Teachers of the Year and Classified Employees of the Year.

Board Service: The Board announced the resignation of Dr. Hank Yeargan from the Glynn County Board of Education. Dr. Yeargan served faithfully for 15 years, and the board extends sincere gratitude to him and his family.
