Board Meeting Brief - August 2025

During the work session held on August 7, 2025, the following key updates were discussed:
- Financial Updates: No financial updates were provided at this session.
- Esplots Project Updates: The College of Coastal Georgia Arts Center is projected to be completed by June 2026. The new Glyndale Elementary School remains in Phase 1 of its development.
- Capital Projects Updates: Construction at Brunswick High School's field house is progressing, with brick and mortar currently being laid. The expected completion date for this project is December 2025. Additionally, the Board of Education's Wing 3 has been completed.
- Gude Report Update: A report was presented.
- Capital Outlay Contract: Approval is being sought for renovations at Goodyear Elementary, C.B. Greer Elementary, and the auditorium at Glynn Academy for Fiscal Year 2027.
- Phase 2 Site Development: There was a request for approval of Ridge Enterprises to complete the Site Development for Phase #2 of the Glyndale Elementary Replacement.
- Construction Manager Recommendation: Approval is being sought for the construction management recommendation from R.H. Tyson Construction for the Glyndale Elementary Replacement.
- Policy Considerations: The board is considering two policies: Transfers & Withdrawals and Internet Acceptable Use.
- Distraction Fee Act Update: An update on the implementation of the Distraction Fee Act within schools was discussed.
- OTUS Assessment & Analytics Software: Approval is being sought for the adoption of OTUS assessment and analytics software.
During the board meeting held on August 12, 2025, several important topics were addressed:
- Millage Rate Public Hearing: The second public hearing regarding the millage rate was conducted, but no attendees came forward to speak.
- Spotlight on School Nutrition: Mrs. Shelly Daniel, Director of School Nutrition, was invited to highlight her team's wonderful accomplishments during the meeting.
- Agenda Approval: The meeting agenda was approved without modifications.
- Consent Agenda Approval: The consent agenda was approved, which included:

- Phase 2 Site Development by Ridge Enterprises at the Glyndale Replacement

- Three policies presented to the board in June: Suicide Prevention, Student Attendance, and Employee Leaves and Absences
- Capital Outlay Contract Update: The application presented at the work session for the Capital Outlay Contract for Goodyear Elementary, C.B. Greer Elementary, and Glynn Academy was the preliminary application. A recent review indicated a slight decrease in the amount of state funds due to a miscount of instructional units. The board approved the capital outlay contract.
