Glynn Academy lost for the second straight week to start the season on Friday night, falling 42-13 to Camden County at Chris Gilman Stadium in Kingsland.

 

This was the first meeting between Glynn and Camden since the 2023 season.

 

The Wildcats have now beaten both Brunswick High and GA to start its 2026 season under new head coach Tucker Pruitt who was making his home debut on Friday night. Camden defeated Brunswick last Saturday, 35-21, in the opening games for both teams at Glynn County Stadium.

 

Against the Pirates, Camden used its running game to take charge after the teams were tied at 14-14 at halftime.

 

In Friday’s game, the Wildcats also went to the air for big gains and scores. Camden actually scored on six straight possessions before missing a field goal in the fourth quarter after a drive by its backups stalled out short of the end zone. 

 

The Wildcats opened the scoring on their first drive after taking the opening kick. They drove 80 yards and punched in the night’s first touchdown on a 3-yard run by Demetrius Coleman. Camden went for two points and converted the attempt after Glynn was penalized on the point-after try.

 

The Red Terrors would answer right back on their first offensive series with Ja’ Kori Roman taking a pitch 78 yards down the home sideline for a touchdown. GA also tried for two points but the Terrors were denied and were left trailing 8-6 with 4:34 left on the opening-quarter clock.

 

Camden scored the next time it got the ball as well after penalties backed the Wildcats behind the chains. On a first-and-25 play from their own 15, Camden dumped a pass to play-maker Sean Green just across the line of scrimmage and he made a play for the highlight reel, going 85 yards to the end zone for the first of his three touchdowns in the game.

 

Green, a senior wide receiver and Florida State commit, also scored on a 53-yard catch and a 53-yard run last week against Brunswick.

 

Glynn drove deep into Camden territory on its second possession, but a Max Noonan pass to the back of the end zone was intercepted by the Wildcats to end the scoring threat by the Terrors.

 

The Wildcats marched 80 yards on their ensuing possession with tranfer quarterback Xavier Collins, a senior, hitting Green from 4 yards out for a third Camden touchdown and a 22-6 lead with just over five minutes left before halftime.

 

The Terrors gambled on their next possession. They faked a punt inside their own 30-yard line on a fourth-down play coming out of a timeout, and the Wildcats sniffed it out to take over at the Glynn 28 with two minutes left in the half.

 

It took only one play for the Wildcats to score as Collins, who came to Kingslan from Lake City (Fla.), lofted a pass over the top of the defense to Coleman for another score that gave the home team a 29-6 lead which they took into halftime.

 

The Terrors mounted a nice drive to start the third quarter after taking the second-half kick. They scored their second touchdown after beginning their drive at their own 13-yard line.

 

Jemayne Leggitt, a junior wide out and defensive back, took a pitch on a reverse play and scored off the right side from 13 yards out to pull Glynn within 29-13.

 

The Terrors simply couldn’t stop the Wildcats, however.

 

After an onside kick attempt by Glynn went out of bounds, Camden started its first third-quarter series near midfield. Collins hit Green over the middle with a 37-yard pass to the GA 13. On the next play, he found Green in the left corner of the end zone for a touchdown, the fifth of the season for the senior standout in two games.

 

Camden also scored again inside the final minute of the third quarter before taking out the starters the next time it got the ball early in the fourth quarter.

 

Glynn will be back at GC Stadium next Friday for a game against Savannah Christian.

 

Camden will travel to Savannah next Friday for a showdown with Benedictine.
