Game Preview
The Red Terrors and Wildcats will play for the first time since the 2023 season.
The Wildcats won that year which was the final year of former head coach Jeff Herron’s second stint at Camden.
Glynn last defeated the Wildcats in 2017.
Rocky Hidalgo has been the head coach of the Terrors since the 2014 season. He will face off against a fourth different head coach at Camden which has been through five head coaches in Hidalgo’s time at Glynn.
Those include Welton Coffey, who is the current athletic director for the Wildcats, Bob Sphire, Jeff Herron, Travis Roland and now Tucker Pruitt.
Pruitt took over the program earlier this year following the dismissal of Roland who only coached the Wildcats for two seasons.
Pruitt came from Appling County, where he spent only the 2025 season after coaching several years at Fitzgerald, which he led to a state championship in 2021.
Pruitt coached the Purple Hurricanes for eight seasons. His Fitzgerald teams won 10-plus games in six of his eight seasons and reached the state semifinals or finals six times as well.
He won in his debut with the Wildcats last Saturday when Camden knocked off Brunswick High 35-21 at Glynn County Stadium.
The Wildcats kept the ball for the final nine minutes of the game, kneeling on the pigskin inside Brunswick’s 5-yard line while the final seconds rolled off the clock.
They operate a run-oriented offense that used several different ball carriers against the Pirates. Their quarterback, Xavier Collins, is a dual-threat signal-caller.
Senior wide receiver Sean Green is also a big-play threat for the Wildcats. He caught a short pass and turned it into a 53-yard touchdown last week against Brunswick. He also scored on a 53-yard run in the opener. Green is committed to Florida State.
Camden’s defensive coordinator is Alan Rodemaker, the former head coach at Valdosta. Rodemaker was the coach for those Wildcats when they won their last state championship in 2015.
Rodemaker also was Valdosta’s coach in 2017 when Glynn beat the Wildcats in the first round of the state playoffs. His Wildcats topped the Terrors in the second round in 2018.
Glynn lost its opener last Thursday at home to Calvary Day School, the No. 1 team in Georgia’s private-school division. The Terrors led 22-13 at halftime but saw the Cavaliers reel off 36 unanswered points in the second half to win going away.
