About Mr. Blackerby

Mr. Blackerby brings nearly 30 years of experience in public education to his new role. He previously served as the Deputy Superintendent of Operations for the Glynn County School System, a position he has held since 2024. In this role, he was instrumental in overseeing the departments of Information Technology, Operations, School Nutrition, and Transportation. His responsibilities also included ESPLOST construction and management, school zoning, energy management, and school safety and risk management.Mike Blackerby

Mr. Blackerby began his career in education as a physical education teacher and coach for golf, track and football in the Camden County School System.

Throughout his career, Mr. Blackerby has held various leadership positions, including Assistant Principal and Principal of Woodbine Elementary School, Director of Transportation, and Director of Operations in Camden County Schools. He joined the Glynn County School System in 2021 as the Executive Director of Operations, where he continued to demonstrate his commitment to excellence in education and administration. In 2023, he was named the Assistant Superintendent of the Operations Department before assuming his previous role as the Deputy Superintendent.

A proud graduate of Brunswick High School, Mr. Blackerby earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Georgia in 1995. His dedication to education and leadership led him to pursue further studies, earning a master’s degree in educational leadership from Georgia Southern University in 2000 and an educational specialist degree in instructional technology from Valdosta State University in 2004.

When not at work, Mr. Blackerby enjoys spending time with his wife, Kendra Murray Blackerby, and twins, John and Kennison. He loves outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and boating.
