Work Session Highlights
During the February 5th work session, the Board reviewed critical updates regarding the district’s operational efficiency, safety initiatives, and ongoing construction projects.
District Operations & Strategic Planning
- Financial Health: The December 2025 financial report and investment analysis were reviewed, reflecting continued financial stability for the district.
- Student Attendance: Reviewed the most recent updates showing positive engagement across the district.
- Staff Attendance: Reviewed data from the fall semester; trends look good and reflect that teachers are consistently in the classroom.
Facilities & Construction Updates
- Brunswick High School Field House: The weight room is officially complete! Student-athletes are already utilizing the space. Focus has now shifted to final AV installation and landscaping.
- College of Coastal Georgia Performing Arts Center: Windows are nearing completion and retractable seating has arrived. Due to previous shipping delays, the estimated completion is now set for late March.
- Glyndale Replacement School: Construction is progressing well; crews are currently focused on laying blocks.
- BOE Wing 4: Furniture has arrived and is currently being moved in as the renovation nears its final stages.
- Gude Report: The Board reviewed the most recent Gude Report.
Recognitions
- SkillsUSA: Recognized the GICCA chapter for receiving the Chapter of Excellence award, presented alongside Principal Joe Depenhart.
Consent Agenda Items
The following items were presented for review and moved to the consent agenda for official approval:
- BOE Wing 5: Approval of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the next phase of renovations.
- Glynn Middle School Gym: Approval for Knight Hardwood Flooring, Inc. to complete a two-week max floor replacement this summer.
- Sterling Elementary Roof: Approval for Southeast Roofing Solutions to begin a replacement project in late May.
- Surplus: Approval of vehicles to be auctioned or disposed of.
- SRO Training Technology: Purchase of InVeris Training Solutions for virtual reality-based emergency scenario training.
- Transportation Software: Approval of Tyler Technologies routing software featuring student scanning for bus entry and exit.
- Emergency Equipment: Approval for 25 new mobile AED units for SRO use.
- Technology: Renewal of Microsoft Education subscriptions and security add-ons.
- Copier Lease: Renewal for our current copier lease.
Board Meeting Highlights
Student & School Spotlights
The February 10 meeting opened with a celebration of student achievement and community appreciation:
- Countywide Spelling Bee: The Board recognized the winner, Genevieve Carpenter, and alternate, Kamille Nuque, of the recent district-wide spelling competition.
- FFA Week: Students from the Golden Isles College & Career Academy (GICCA) FFA chapter presented what they are currently working on and about their upcoming FFA Week.
- "Love the Bus" Month: GCSS Transportation Director recognized two of his bus dedicated drivers and presented highlights from celebrations at our elementary schools to honor our dedicated transportation staff.
