📵 New for 2025–2026: Glynn County Schools Implements Distraction-Free Education Act

Glynn County Schools is introducing the new Distraction-Free Education Act, which applies to students in grades Kindergarten through 8th. Under this law, there will be no personal electronic devices allowed from bell to bell, including class, hallways, and recess.
To maintain consistency across all grade levels, we will also implement the same rule for grades 9–12, prohibiting device use during instructional time.
What Devices Are Included?
- Cell phones
- Smartwatches
- Headphones or earbuds
- Tablets or e-readers
- Anything that connects to the internet, plays music/games, or sends messages
When Can Devices Be Used?
- Before school starts
- After the final bell
- If your IEP, 504, or medical plan allows it
Where Can Devices Be Stored?
- In a locker (if available)
- In a locked pouch
- In a safe spot in the classroom
When Will The New Implementation Begin?
We are starting this initiative on the first day of school, August 6, to align with the new law and ensure a smooth transition without disruptions when the school year begins.
What Are The Disciplinary Actions For Violations?
- Step 1: Students will receive a warning for their first offense.
- Step 2: If a device is seen again, it will be confiscated by a staff member and returned at the end of the day.
- Step 3: Any further violations will result in the device being turned in to the front office, requiring a parent or guardian to pick it up.
Need to Reach Your Child?
Families can still contact their child during the school day by calling the school’s front office. Our staff is available to relay important or time-sensitive messages.
At Glynn County Schools, our primary goal is to ensure the best possible learning environment for our students.
