Board Briefs – June 10, 2025

At the Regular Meeting on June 10, the Glynn County Board of Education unanimously approved the FY2026 budget, maintaining the current millage rate of 14.900, projecting a 6% increase in local tax revenues and a 97% collection rate.
Significant expenditure changes include increased health insurance costs for both certified and classified employees, salary step increases, and adjustments in departmental budgets and staffing. The budget projects total revenues of $190,736,700, aiming to balance these increased costs and ensure financial stability for the upcoming fiscal year. The Board’s vote on the FY26 budget came after its public hearings held on May 8 and June 10.
Prior to approving the budget, the Board reviewed approved the following consent agenda items:
- April 2025 Financial Report: Year-to-date revenues are at 91.3% of budget, while expenditures are at 78.9%, with a budget position of 83.3% as of April.
- Glynn County Stadium Lighting: Approved $570,000 for new stadium lighting using ESPLOST V funds.
- GoGuardian Renewal: Approved the renewal of GoGuardian, a classroom management and internet filtering tool, for $78,780 for the 2025-26 school year.
- Computer Surplus: Declared Chromebooks, desktops, and laptops from 2019-2021 as surplus, with replacements planned for Brunswick High School, Glynn Academy High School, Golden Isles College and Career Academy, and the Central Office.
- Infinite Campus Renewal: Approved $145,773.50 for renewal of Infinite Campus, the district's student information system, for 2025-26.
- Edgenuity Renewal: Approved $152,424.11 for renewal of Edgenuity, an online learning platform that provides flexible virtual courses, personalized instruction, and built-in assessments to support student progress.
Work Session Update
During the Work Session prior to the regular meeting, the Board tabled the request for approval of Special Education Paraprofessional Services with ESS Southeast LLC until July. Proposals for paraprofessional services for the period of August 1, 2025, through June 1, 2026, were solicited. The opportunity was advertised in The Brunswick News, the Georgia Procurement Registry, and the GCSS website. A total of 20 proposals were received. The contract may be renewed for up to four one-year terms on the same terms and conditions by mutual agreement of both parties, pending Board approval.
