Related Links

  • Brightstorm
Short, to-the-point math videos covering every topic in Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Precalculus and Calculus. Used to be free, but now requires a paid subscription.
  • Create a Graph
This resource allows students to enter data to construct a selected graph: area, bar, line, or pie. Students can enter their own data or use sample data from the National Center for Educational Statistics (which hosts this site).
  • Function Machine
The function machine is a virtual manipulative designed to teach the concept of a function through experimentation with different functions. The student drags a number into the function machine and observes the output after the machine processes the number. This information is then used to infer what numbers will complete the table of values.
  • Georgia Classroom Instructional Videos
Videos on mathematics topics in grades K-Mathematics I.
  • Graphic Organizers
Help your students children classify ideas and communicate more effectively. Use graphic organizers to structure writing projects, to help in problem solving, decision making, studying, planning research and brainstorming.
  • Intermath
InterMath is a professional development effort designed to support teachers in becoming better mathematics educators. It focuses on building teachers' mathematical content knowledge through mathematical investigations that are supported by technology.
  • Khan Academy
A library of videos covering K-12 mathematics and science topics such as biology, chemistry, and physics. Each video is a digestible chunk, approximately 10 minutes long, and especially purposed for viewing on the computer.
  • Mathematics Problems and Warm-ups
This is a web-base of interesting mathematics problems that may be used in classrooms or just for fun.
  • Math 'n' Stuff
Lessons and information on specific topics in mathematics. Games, graph paper & masters, other good stuff. Also, an arithmetic, algebra, precalc dictionary.
  • National Library of Virtual Manipulatives
A library of uniquely interactive, web-based virtual manipulatives or concept tutorials, for mathematics instruction (K-12 emphasis).
  • Primary Resources
Free lesson plans, activity ideas and resources for primary teachers.
  • Shodor
Applications, games, simulations and math tools.
  • Statistics - Polls: What do the numbers tell us?
In an election season, it is common to hear news reports regarding poll results. What do these figures mean and where do we get them? With an emphasis on "doing" statistics rather than on passive learning, this series goes on location to help uncover statistical solutions to the puzzles of everyday life. Students may learn how data collection and manipulation--paired with intelligent judgment and common sense--lead to greater understanding of the world. Teachers can use these activities for grades 7-12.
  • Real World Math
Real World Math is a collection of free math activities for Google Earth designed for students and educators.
  • Teaching Channel
Teaching Channel is a video showcase of innovative and effective teaching practices in America's schools.
  • Tenmarks
Very useful site for math practice, instruction, assessment and intervention.
  • The Math Forum
Welcome to the Teachers' Place! Here you'll find what we consider to be the best resources for teaching math at all levels. This space is not only for teachers, but has also been built in part by teachers.
  • Tour of Measurement (Middle Grades)
This Web site has a collection of resources for the middle grades that are related to measurement. Sections include lessons on length, area, and volume; metric units and conversion; and non-standard units and estimation, as well as more general resources.
  • Varnelle Moore's Primary Math Activities
These lessons are designed to guide young children through an introduction to algebra, geometry, fractions, measurement, and symmetry.

Each of the lessons has been designed to include four types of activities:
    1. interactive, manipulative-based projects 2. technology 3. paper/pencil practice 4. literature connections
