Governor Brian Kemp and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) recently announced the 2024 Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) Awards, recognizing 213 public schools in 49 districts for outstanding academic achievement. Glynn County Schools had the most schools recognized out of First District RESA, further solidifying its commitment to excellence in education.
Oglethorpe Point, Golden Isles and Greer elementary schools have earned recognition in the Greatest Gains category, which honors schools making significant progress in student learning. OPE received Platinum, GIES earned Gold, and Greer was awarded Silver.
Additionally, OPE achieved Platinum status in the Highest Performing category, which recognizes schools with consistently high academic performance over a three-year period. It is one of only 53 schools statewide to achieve recognition in both categories.
The SSAS Awards, developed by GOSA and approved by the State Board of Education, celebrate schools that rank in at least the 93rd percentile statewide in their respective categories. With four award tiers – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze – the distinction highlights the hard work and dedication of students, teachers and administrators.
"We are incredibly proud of our schools for earning these awards. Their commitment to academic excellence and student success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, staff and students," said Tere Miller, Assistant Superintendent, PK-5.
"These recognitions highlight the outstanding learning environments we continue to cultivate in our district, and we look forward to seeing even more of our elementary schools recognized in the future."
