TOTY Spotlight: Molly High

Throughout the month of September, we will be introducing you to the 2023-2024 Glynn County Teachers of the Year.

Molly High was named Teacher of the Year at Oglethorpe Point Elementary School. She has taught math, science and social studies in third-, fourth- and fifth-grade. Here are some awesome things you should know.

........................................................

Family: In December, my husband Asa and I will celebrate 14 years of marriage. We have two boys, Parker (11) and Hudson (7), who both attend Glynn County Schools. They keep us busy with their sports and social calendars, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Who is your role model? My role models are my parents.  They raised me to be strong and independent, while also being empathetic to the needs of others.  Even as an adult, my parents continue to inspire me to succeed in all I do. I am the person I am today because of their constant love and support!

What book has most influenced you? The book that has influenced me the most is the Bible. After all, it is the greatest love story ever told!

What is your greatest teaching memory? I have so many memorable teaching experiences, but nothing compares to having a front row seat to an “aha” moment when a student's light bulb finally goes off and the “I get it!” smile appears.

What is your favorite quote or personal motto? There is always something to be grateful for.

What is a fact about you that most people don't know? I don’t eat seafood.

Any hidden talents or hobbies? I enjoy running, traveling, spending time outdoors with my family, and watching just about any type of sporting event.
