In partnership with The College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA), the MARINER LIFE program provides a unique opportunity for students ages 18-21 who want on-the-job training experience while being immersed into a college life experience. Students participating in the Mariner Life program become part of the student body by receiving college identification allowing them access to all sporting events and student activities on the CCGA campus. Students with four years of high school participation and three years of job readiness training in the ACCESS program for students with primarily moderate intellectual disabilities located at our high schools are nominated by their teachers for MARINER LIFE based on excellent classroom performance and participation in community based instruction and pre-vocational training at various work sites. Before final selections are made, students are interviewed for the program and receive a skills assessment.

hi I'm Cynthia mining instructor for the Mariner Life program at Coastal College of Georgia we have a partnership with the coastal College of Georgia for 18 to 21 year old students with intellectual disabilities who have completed four years of high school they now have the opportunity to participate at the college the students are provided on-the-job training at the college they are true housekeeping landscaping and food services this has been so successful that the college has hired several of her students after graduating from school we have students now working in the dining hall and in the Landscaping Department we also have a relationship with a thrift shop that serves the college population the students have the opportunity to be trained at a retail setting our classroom it is located on the college campus when we utilize classroom space it is used for learning Independent Living Past Mariner license are immersed in the college life we participate in the college's events and activities we attend student Gathering sporting event and participate in club Friday afternoon she'll find us in the Student Activity Center interacting with the other college students enjoying a wide variety of activities this is given our students the opportunity to build friendship with a college student black students have the opportunity also to participate in college classes I currently have a student participating in a public speaking class American life experience is the next phase in life many of our students as well as their parents did not think is possible the purpose of this program is to help students with disabilities function as independently as possible in their home and in the community when they leave his program his show to be a very positive experience for all but I would think I could. Campus and I just got a new position as a host how to get to the all-time field and running the program at the College of Coastal Georgia we believe that there is power in Partnerships and when I think about program it is incredibly powerful the impact on the students that are in the program the impact on our College of Coastal Georgia student and the greater impact on our community it is a special partnership and one that we find the students in the program experiencing everything that a college experience has to offer so attending class getting to know students the painting in the student organization you name it and we're really proud to be partnering with the Glynn County School District for this program
