Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) will be coming to Glynn County November 17-19, 2020. 
 
Registration begins September 17, 2020 and spaces fill up quickly!
 
Two types of sessions will be offered.  All sessions will be conducted virtually, via telephone or WebEx.
  • Pre-Retirement Workshop - A one-hour general session about planning for retirement with thorough information regarding TRS.
  • Pre-Retirement Invidual Counseling Sessions - Individual one-on-one 50 minute sessions to specifically discuss the member's retirement.  These sessions are only for members within 5 years of retirement with priority given to those within 2 years of retirement.  You MUST register for individual sessions.  Directions can be found on the flyer below.  If you do not have your TRS ID, please contact Ms. Michele Seals at 912-267-4100, ext. 1123.

Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)
 
The recently enacted Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) was signed into law by the President on March 18, 2020.  The Act went into effect on April 1, 2020, and ends December 31, 2020.  The Act applies to all Georgia school districts and provides additional leave entitlements to eligible employees.
 
The act includes the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (EPSLA) and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (EFMLEA).
  1. Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (EPSLA): Under EPSLA, employers are required to provide additional paid sick leave if the employee is unable to work or telework for COVID-19 related reasons.  The Act lists six (6) reasons.
  2. Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (EFMLEA): Under EFMLEA, the Act temporarily adds new eligibility categories for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
The law requires that employers give all eligible employees notice of the Act.  Email correspondence was sent in April of 2020 from the Glynn County School System Legal Compliance Department, and the U.S. Department of Labor flyer below was sent to school and site administrators to be posted at various locations throughout the district and was also made available online through the Human Resources Department website.
