2023-2024 Calendar & School Hours
The first day of school is Tuesday, August 8. GCSS will operate on a 178-day instructional calendar for the 2023-24 school year. This change from a full 180-day calendar is to provide more options for teacher workdays, professional development and short breaks in October, February and March. Below are graphic and text versions of the complete calendar.
School Hours
Starting in the 2023-2024 school year, elementary school students will begin class at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:20 p.m. Middle school will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m. High school start and end times will remain the same – 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Currently, elementary school students attend from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and middle schoolers from 8:25 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
