The winner of this year’s bee is Riley Norman, an eighth-grader at Jane Macon Middle School. Jazlin Frierson, a fifth-grader at Goodyear Elementary School, will serve as the alternate.
The winning word was excursion.
NOTE: The Region 8 District Spelling Bee will be held on Feb. 24, followed by the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) State Spelling Bee on March 15.
