Provisional Certificate
If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you may be able to qualify for a Provisional certificate. This certificate is for those who wish to transition into a career in education, this certificate allows you to teach while you complete an educator prep program.
The qualifications for the Provisional certificate in a teaching field include:
- A bachelor's degree or higher.
- A passing score on the appropriate GACE content assessment.
- A passing score on the Georgia Ethics for Teachers Assessment (Test Code 351).
Once you have met the requirements for your Provisional Certification you can apply to Georgia schools system like us and we will apply for your Provisional Certification for you!

Alternative Educator Prep Programs
In order to qualify for an alternative program, you must hold your provisional certificate and be hired as an educator by a Georgia School like us!
After meeting these requirements, you may apply for admission to the GaTAPP or a GaPSC approved Masters of Teaching program.
Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP) is Georgia’s only alternative route to initial teacher certification. This program allow candidates to teach during the day and attend seminars and Georgia Special Requirement classes in summer, evenings, or Saturdays. The instruction candidates receive is individualized and determined by the Candidate Support Team
MAT (Masters in the Art of Teaching) is an education preparation program that leads to teacher certification in addition to a master's degree. Programs typically take 2 years to complete. At the completion of the program, you will be eligible for professional certification and salary at the master's level. Conversion
Provisional To Induction or Professional
Educators must complete all the requirements of a state-approved educator preparation program and all applicable Special Georgia Requirements, which includes the following:
- A passing score on the content knowledge assessment(s) applicable to their fields of certification will be required for conversion to an Induction or a Professional certificate;
- A passing score on the Ethics for Teachers Assessment (Test Code 351). This score is also transmitted electronically to the GaPSC.
Those who have 3 years of successful educator experience will qualify for a Professional certificate.
Induction to Professional
In order to convert your Induction certificate to a Professional certificate, please complete the requirements outlined in the correspondence issued with your Induction certificate. The documents you need to submit with your application for conversion are also included in that correspondence, which can be accessed through your MyPSC account.

- School Librarian
- School Nutrition Director
