Superintendent's Corner

Glynn County Schools has demonstrated remarkable resilience and progress in recent years, overcoming significant challenges to achieve impressive academic gains.

Our commitment to excellence is evident in several key areas:
Glynn County Schools achieved a graduation rate of 96.5% in 2023, up from 95.2% in 2022. This rate significantly surpasses the state average of 84.4% and represents the highest graduation rate among all systems in the First District RESA.
The district outperformed both state and regional averages on the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Glynn County's overall district score of 83 was nine points higher than the state average, marking the largest margin over the state's single score since the CCRPI began in 2012.
Elementary schools in the district excelled in various CCRPI components, ranking in the top 5 for Closing Gaps, Progress, Readiness, Student Attendance, and Content Mastery. All elementary schools saw an increase in the number of students reading at or above grade level.
Middle schools surpassed regional averages in all CCRPI areas, with notable rankings in Readiness and Content Mastery. High schools topped both state and regional averages, with particularly strong performances in Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, and Graduation Rate.
Our success stems from a comprehensive approach that includes customized school improvement plans, foundational support for students’ academic, career, and social-emotional needs, and expanded pathways in Career, Technical and Agriculture Education (CTAE), dual enrollment, and advanced academic programs.

For instance, last year we added Dental Science, Workforce Ready and Fire and Emergency Services pathways to the curriculum at the Golden Isles College and Career Academy. Beyond the classroom, our career academy also hosted its inaugural "GICCA Signing Day," where 35 students signed their intent to work or do work-based learning with over a dozen local employers.

These initiatives empower students with the freedom to choose their career paths, ensuring they can pursue their passions and interests with confidence.
These achievements are the collective efforts of all stakeholders, including school leadership, teachers, families, and the broader community.

Whether through our Annual STEAMFest & Literacy Fair, Connect Glynn Externship, award-winning Mariner Life Program or our new Book Space mobile library initiative, collaborating with all stakeholders has and will continue to be crucial for us in identifying and securing necessary resources to support student success.
While these accomplishments are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to improvement, we remain dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes for all students.

In fact, we have reapplied for the 21st CCLC (Century Community Learning Center) Grant in hopes of receiving another five years of funding to support after-school programming and academic enrichment for students.

The grant is intended to help students in need of additional academic assistance in kindergarten through fifth grade who attend Altama Elementary, Burroughs-Molette Elementary and Goodyear Elementary schools. An additional application was submitted to serve sixth grade students attending Glynn Middle, Jane Macon, Needwood and Risley Middle schools.
As evidenced above, Glynn County Schools' recent achievements demonstrate a strong foundation for continued success. By maintaining our focus on high-quality instruction, student support, and community engagement, we are ensuring every student receives the highest-quality educational experience possible.

We sincerely appreciate your support for our district and your investment in our students’ education. We are a #strongerglynn because of you.
