Episode 1: Suicide Prevention Month
Did you know that 800,000 people around the world end their lives by suicide every year? That means one suicide every 40 seconds, making it one of the top 20 causes of death for people of all ages worldwide.
In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Month, which is September, we sat down with Student Services Director Senetra Haywood and Lead School Social Worker Greg Jaudon to have that difficult conversation about a taboo topic that has concealed a sad reality: that it can affect anyone at any time of life, regardless of socioeconomic status, age, race, gender or religion.
If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) at any time or text “Jason” to 741741 to speak with a compassionate, trained Crisis Counselor.
