Legal Compliance

The Glynn County Schools Office of Legal Compliance guides, supports and advises the business and operations of the Glynn County Schools by maintaining and developing policies and procedures specific to the business and educational requirements of the School District.

As directed by the Office of the Superintendent, The Office of Legal Compliance seeks to advance the District’s vision, mission, and core values by keeping principals, supervisors and department heads informed of legal, policy and procedural issues that may affect the operation and function of a school or department and provide the necessary support and involvement to resolve such issues in a timely, cost-effective and professional manner.

In strict compliance with the Georgia Open Records Act, an Open Records Request should be made directly to the government agency’s Open Records Officer. For Open Records purposes, the Open Records Officer for the Glynn County Schools is Mr. Paul S. McKenzie, Director of Legal Compliance.

Kinship care refers to a temporary or permanent arrangement in which a relative or any non-relative adult who has a long-standing relationship or bond with the child and/or family has taken over the full-time, substitute care of a child whose parents are unable to do so.

Kinship care includes those relationships established through an informal arrangement, legal custody, guardianship order, and a relative foster care placement.

The Glynn County Board of Education firmly believes that the use and abuse of drugs that are not prescribed or used as prescribed are detrimental to the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of its students. The Board further believes that this abuse seriously interferes with the academic and athletic performance of students and creates an unhealthy learning environment.

Legal Compliance will oversee the random drug testing on any student involved in the following activities: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Literary, Marching Band, One Act, Parking Permit, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
