Meetings planned for proposed 2020 millage rate

The first public hearing will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4. The second public hearing will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4. The third and final public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11. All three public hearings will be held at the Glynn County School System Administration Building, 1313 Egmont Street, Brunswick, Georgia.

Following the third and final public hearing, the Glynn County Board of Education will adopt the 2020 millage rate at a Regular Board meeting on Tuesday, August 11 at 6:00 p.m. The Board meeting will be held at the Glynn County School System Administration Building, 1313 Egmont Street, Brunswick, Georgia.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 16.157 mills, an increase of .175 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 15.982 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $225,000 is approximately $39.38 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $43.75.
